This wedding holds a special place in my heart. It is always an honor when a close friend hires you to be their wedding photographer, and it's even more of an honor when you're close friends with the bride and the groom! I've known Doug since my freshman year of college and Hannah since my sophomore year. Doug is well-known at Appalachian State for his trademark cowboy hat and boots that he wears everywhere, and is referred to by all of our friends as "Cowboy Doug." (You'll notice that everyone in the bridal party adorned cowboy and cowgirl boots for this wedding!)
Doug is a loyal friend, he's thoughtful and chooses his words carefully, but as soon as you get him on a dance floor he goes crazy! He's always the life of the party! Hannah and I hit it off immediately and I am so thankful for her friendship. She has a pure and genuine heart and is always looking out for her friends. Her faith is unshakeable and she has always been an inspiration to me in the way she stands up for her beliefs.
If you've followed my blog for awhile you know that I had the privilege of photographing Hannah and Doug's proposal in the spring of last year! That was one of my favorite moments as a photographer. It was so fun to scheme with Doug to make their perfect engagement happen and to do their session right after the first exciting moments of Hannah saying, "Yes!" The pastor even mentioned it during the ceremony and called me out by name! I think that will probably be my only ceremony shout out ever and it was awesome!
With so much history, you can imagine how dear this day was to me. It was a joy to watch two wonderful friends join their lives together. It certainly was a beautiful and special day and I loved playing such an important role as their photographer.
Hannah and Doug, I'm excited for married double dates with you guys and watching how the Lord uses your marriage for His glory!
